CBS Sports golf reporter Amanda Balionis is among those mourning the death of longtime PGA Tour golfer Grayson Murray this weekend.
Murray, 30, died by suicide on Saturday, according to his parents.
Balionis, who covered the Charles Schwab Challenge this weekend, posted a heartfelt statement following his death.
“This week was filled with heartbreak, shock, sadness and compassion. As Commissioner Jay Monahan said, “the PGA TOUR is a family, and this family will never be the same.” Our hearts are with Grayson Murray’s family during this horrendous time. Play continued because that’s what the Murray family wanted. We crowned a worthy Champion in Davis Riley with the full understanding that there is so much more to life than sport. This game can be a vehicle to bring people together, and during this time I hope that is exactly how we all use it,” she wrote in a statement.
Our thoughts continue to be with Grayson’s friends and family members during this difficult time.
May the former PGA Tour winner rest in peace.
